Start with the problem that matches yours. An early user report and a developer's response can identify a useful test, but neither guarantees the same result with every file. Photos and animated images

How do I keep the original photo dates?

Use the global Keep the original file dates setting in General, the preset-specific option, or --keep-dates in the CLI. EXIF capture time is a separate field.

Can I remove EXIF without washing out the colors?

Check EXIF and the color profile separately. The developer introduced a separate profile control in 1.2.3 after a report about iPhone P3 photos. Inspect the exported file in the same color-managed viewer.

Why did GIF-to-WebP produce only one frame?

An early GIF/WebP bug was fixed in 1.2.2. Current animated GIF, WebP, APNG and MNG routes preserve frames and timing; ordinary still-image targets receive a still. Test in an animation-capable viewer.

Can EPS-to-PNG keep a transparent background?

The developer fixed EPS/PS-to-PNG alpha in 1.6.0. Use PNG and inspect the edges on light and dark backgrounds. JPG still cannot retain transparency; other input types can have separate issues.

Can I convert a folder without dragging each file?

Yes. Select the files together in the GUI, or use the current filee convert folder command. Add --recursive for subfolders. Early launch replies saying GUI-only predate the current CLI.

Why did dropping a folder offer an archive instead?

In the developer's GUI explanation, dropping the folder treats it as something to archive. Open it and drag the selected files, or use explicit CLI folder conversion.

Where did my converted files go?

Check Settings, General for the default location, then the preset's Output, Save to override. A watch folder uses its converted subfolder by default.

Will PDF-to-Word keep real editable tables?

Do not rely on it for full table reconstruction. The PDF reader documents table cells as paragraphs in reading order. A Reddit sample improved in 1.6.0, but that was not a general layout-preservation fix.

Why do spreadsheet totals stay correct but stop updating?

The built-in spreadsheet converter retains cached formula results rather than formulas. Change one input in the converted copy and test recalculation. Keep the original workbook for continued calculations.

Should I hold Ctrl, Shift or Option to open the donut?

Use the gesture configured in your own installation. Official Windows examples use Ctrl, Mac documentation uses Option, while an X demonstration says Shift. The shortcut is configurable.

Why does a PDF-to-Markdown export lose layout or images?

Why does a long e-book stop near 95 percent?

Read the date before adopting a workaround

The Reddit launch thread started on October 2, 2026 and continued through several releases. Its initial description of a GUI-only tool predates the current CLI. Advice about repairing Opus artwork or losing GIF frames also has a release context. We preserve that history and link the relevant fix instead of presenting an old limitation as current behavior.

On X, short demonstrations often omit the configured shortcut, platform, preset and final output check. A repost recommending the tool is not the same as a reproducible conversion test. The two X examples used above are kept in context: one reports a spreadsheet formula check on 1.10.3, and one demonstrates a drag gesture. Current answers are checked against the official documentation where that documentation addresses the question.
