Start with the project

The official Filee website explains the application and links to its releases. The KnifeLemon/Filee README documents installation, platform requirements, formats, licensing and the desktop application's privacy behavior.

Our guide set was checked on October 19, 2026 against release 1.12.0. Newer releases can change a workflow. Use the latest official release notes before applying a version-specific fix.

Match the source to your task

• Installation and platform requirements: package names, Windows versions, preview platforms and installation methods.
• Conversion engines: route dependencies, built-in and optional engines, and output limitations.
• Command-line reference: commands, flags, watch folders, collision policies and exit codes.
• Release 1.12.0: PDF slides, compression and version-specific fixes.

User reports have a narrower meaning

We use public issues to identify real tasks and potential failure cases. Issue #138 concerns PDF-to-DOCX layout; #144 concerns PDF-to-Markdown layout and images; #143 concerns equations in Word-to-PDF output. These reports do not establish that every input has the same problem.

The troubleshooting guide ties symptoms to specific sources and distinguishes documented fixes from reports without a verified fix. This wiki does not claim original desktop conversion tests for these examples.

Community questions and experience

The Reddit launch discussion contains questions about EXIF, photo dates, batches, destination folders, portable updates, Opus artwork and PDF-to-DOCX results. Our community Q&A paraphrases those questions and links each answer to the relevant task guide. The thread spans early versions, so a launch reply is not automatically current advice.

On X, haolv511482's October 14 spreadsheet report concerns Filee 1.10.3 on Mac and lost formulas after XLSX-to-ODS conversion. We separately checked the 1.12.0 spreadsheet reference, which documents cached results rather than formula preservation. th2049's October 17 demonstration uses a configured drag gesture; it is not a statement of everyone's default key.

These are reports and demonstrations by their respective authors, not endorsements of this wiki or desktop tests performed here. We link the originals, explain version differences and avoid converting social engagement counts into reliability or popularity claims.
